I became a journalist for several reasons…The most important reason, to connect with people, to share people's stories with the community, and to share the community's stories with people. I can't think of anything better than traveling to different places, meeting people, and learning about new things every single day, and then getting the opportunity to share that experience with others. That’s what I love about this job.
I was born in Dallas, but grew up in College Station, TX. No, I’m not an Aggie! I wanted to get the “real college experience” and move away from home. So, I moved back to the Dallas area and attended The University of North Texas. While at UNT, I worked as a reporter, producer and anchor for the local cable news station in Denton. I also interned at WFAA in Dallas.
Before graduation, I studied abroad in London. I lived there for about six weeks, went to school at the University of London, and studied British Broadcasting. I was there for the London bombings in July 2005. That’s something I will never forget. While it gave me a new appreciation for the county I call home, it really changed my perspective on life and the world we live in. I moved to Shreveport in February 2007. I anchor the weekend shows and report during the week.
