Shreveport Police Department's Tactical Robbery Unit closed an April 2003 robbery case, thanks to a DNA match discovered with a national DNA database. Kerrick Walker, 23, of Shreveport was arrested about 5:45 p.m. Monday for a robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of April 23, 2003 at the corner of Curtis Lane and Lakeshore Drive. Walker is accused of carjacking a woman as she was stopped at the intersection's red light. Two males wearing ski masks and armed with assault-style rifles approached her and demanded her car at gunpoint. A short time later, patrol officers located the stolen Ford Mustang along with another vehicle that was used to commit the robbery. The suspects abandoned the vehicles near Cade Street in Cedar Grove, and the suspects fled into the woods. Last month, SPD was notified of a DNA match in the case to a suspect to Walker. Walker was arrested and booked for armed robbery.
