Louisiana Tech University is one local school that is taking strides to stay viable and make a good showing to the state.

A brand new innovation lab and institue for micromanufacturing are some of the school's latest investments. Biomedical students are conducting cutting edge research on brain sensory devices, cancer, even anti-aging treaments.

A new enterprise center is also scheduled to go up soon. It and other recent additions are all a part of the university's campaign to the state. The more it can prove it's staying power, the less likely it is to see major cuts. The Postsecondary Education Review Commission has until mid-February to submit its streamlining recommendations.
