Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @02:45pm CST The Big 12 has announced agreements with the new Dallas Football Classic and the Eagle Bank Bowl in Washington, D.C., for the 2010 through 2013 seasons.
Under the conference's agreements with the bowls, the Big 12 will be guaranteed a team in the Dallas bowl in 2010 and 2012 and in the Eagle Bank Bowl in 2013. It will provide the eighth bowl team for the conference in each of the seasons. In 2011, the two bowls already have partners. The Dallas game will take teams from the Big Ten and Conference USA and the Eagle Bank Bowl has agreements with the Atlantic Coast Conference and Navy. If either bowl does not have enough eligible teams, the Big 12 would be involved as a backup in that year. The Dallas game will be played in the Cotton Bowl. The Big 12 already has agreements during those seasons with the Fiesta, Cotton, Alamo, Insight, Holiday, Texas and New York Yankees bowls for those seasons. "This completes our bowl negotiations for the 2010-13 seasons," Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe said in a statement. "We are very pleased with the agreements we have entered, which give the conference the opportunity to provide at least eight bowl teams annually. These agreements meet all of the objectives that we established at the start of the negotiation process." The agreement provides the Big 12 with bowls in five different states during each year of the contract. All of the opponents will be teams from BCS-affiliated conferences. |
