Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @10:46pm CST Shreveport, LA-The LSUS women’s basketball team (1-0) got their season off to a great start as they defeated Concordia College-Selma by a final score of 94-48 on Monday night at the Dock.
The Lady Pilots were 11 of 29 from 3 point range as sophomore, Tynekqua Warren, was 3 for 6 and lead the Lady Pilots with a total of 21 points on the night. Junior forward, TiKandis Edwards, had a total of 19 points, including 10 rebounds. LSUS led at the half 51-28. The Lady Pilots continued with great passing and shooting in the second half especially from the free throw line as they shot 71 % percent in the half and 36 % for the game. The Lady Pilots were stellar on the boards, collecting a total of 60 rebounds opposed to Concordia’s 29. LSUS had three players with double digit rebounds; Callie Davis led the way with 11. TiKandis Edwards and Sharday Cotton each had 10. LSUS outscored Concordia in the second half 43-20 on their way to a 94-48 victory. The next game for the LSUS Lady Pilots will be on Friday, November 13th, in Waxahachie, Texas against Oklahoma Christian University with the tip off scheduled for 5 p.m. The next game at the Dock will be on Tuesday, December 1st, versus Jarvis Christian College at 5:30 p.m. |
