in Advance of Your Wedding:
Mail wedding invitations.
Look at photos
to get ideas for wedding cake designs, and meet with bakers to taste samples.
Set the menu for the reception with your caterer.
Purchase wedding rings.
Pick out the
groom’s tux and decide what groomsmen will wear.
Confirm your bridesmaids ordered their gowns. Gowns should be
ordered by now because they may have
to be ordered from out of town. You need time to have the dresses shipped,
then, you may need even more time to have them altered.
Go shopping for your
mother and future mother-in-law’s dresses. Remember, patience is a virtue.
Go shopping for
wedding favors.
Finalize the
wedding cake order.
Research and
book your rehearsal dinner location.
Notify
any family or friends whom you would like to give readings, sing solos, serve
as guest book
attendant, etc.
3 to 2 Months
in Advance of Your Wedding:
Schedule your appointment with your hairdresser.
Order the wedding favors.
Purchase ceremonial accessories:
* Toasting Glasses
* Ring Pillow
* Guest Book
* Party Favors
Confirm the menu for your reception.
Confirm tuxes have been ordered for groom/groomsmen.
Make all reservations for your honeymoon and buy anything you need to
take with you.
Confirm wedding transportation.
Revise your legal documents. This is a good
time to discuss your living will, leases, insurance and
bank accounts.
Select
your music for the ceremony and reception, and review the music with musicians
and singers.
Finalize
your rehearsal dinner plans and set the menu.
2 to 1 Months
in Advance of Your Wedding:
Finalize
ceremony readings and songs, and review with performers.
Order any liquor or beverages that are no
handled by the caterer.
Meet with the Officiate to finalize all the
plans for the ceremony. Be sure to include the attendant
formations.
Begin writing you vows, if applicable. This is NOT a case in which you
should try to wing it.
Order your marriage license.
1 Month in
Advance of Your Wedding:
Practice your first dance wearing your
bridal shoes.
Design and order your wedding program.
Confirm honeymoon and travel arrangements,
and give loved ones your itinerary in case of emergency.
Pick up your wedding rings.
Pick up your marriage license.
Have your name changed.
Mail your rehearsal-dinner invitations.
1 to 2 Weeks in
Advance of Your Wedding:
Have your final wedding gown fitting. You
must make sure you’re comfortable and look your best.
Finalize your wedding-day schedule and share
with attendants, parents, and all vendors.
Pick up your wedding dress and make sure all
of your accessories are together.
Pick up the groom’s outfit, make sure it
fits, and gather all of his accessories together.
Confirm the final headcount. It may be smart
to expect a few extras. Some people just can’t RSVP and you’d be better off
having a little extra than running out of everything.
Pack for your wedding night and honeymoon.
It sounds early, but this is one less task for you to worry about on your wedding day.
Confirm dates, times and locations for all
photo and video sessions for the day of the wedding.
The Day Before
Your Wedding:
Prepare a list of payment envelopes – including
tips – earmarking who is responsible for
distributing to vendors.
Hand out assignment lists and checklists to
ensure everyone knows their tasks, including person
responsible for transporting gifts.
Rehearse the ceremony with the Officiate and
wedding party.
Get a manicure, pedicure, and massage. Finally, try
to get some sleep. The wedding day is going to be
very busy and you need your rest to look and feel your best.
