Even in the wake of an embarrassing, season-ending loss to the Eagles, the question remained:

Was Tony Romo's cross-field lateral to Jason Witten, followed by Witten's 42-yard pass to Terrell Owens, a designed play?

Witten explained in his weekly radio segment (KTCK 1310-AM).

"Absolutely not (planned)," he said. "Me and Flozell (Adams) were blocking (Philadelphia's) Trent Cole and he kind of ran way outside and I think Tony might have gotten pressure from the inside because he kind of moved toward us. I didn't block him extremely well and he kind of ran the hump. And so Tony kind of makes him miss and I just take off running to the right as if I had no question he was going to get out of that tackle and he was going to throw it to me.

"It was just one of those weird deals when the ball came to me. I was beginning to run and I saw one of the corners coming up and I just saw Terrell. I thought, what the heck, there's nothing better to try to get back in the game than this big play."
