Seniors can expect to see change in their Medicare Part D Plan.
And now is the time to make sure the plan will work for another year.
"I was paying a high, high prices for my medicine. I didn't have enough money and really needed the medicine."
86 year-old, Eddie McCall's appointment is set for next week.
She is having her Medicare Part D plan checked to make sure no changes need to be made.
Open enrollment for Medicare Part D begins November 15th, 2008 and ends December 31st, 2008.
"We need to just take a look and try to advise them on another plan," said Irene Jackson.
Jackson manages the Aging and Disability Resource Center.
She will be meeting with seniors about their plans and says a long, hard look is needed because of price increases and changes with prescription drugs included in the plans.
"The premiums have gone up tremendously and they really need to see all the plans that we have."
Jackson says seniors need to make an appointment to have their plan looked at and bring all their medication with them.
It takes about 30 minutes to see if change is needed and in some cases change means saving more money.
"It is a wonderful thing and I am glad I came and hate I didn't come sooner," said McCall.
Once a plan is decided on, the Resource Center provides a Flash disk to each senior.
It contains their medical and Medicare Part D information. A handy tool for emergency situations.
Jackson says the help is free and available for Louisiana seniors.
"We are here to help, we are ready to help."
