For decades, Nicky's Mexican Restaurant has been an institution in the ArkLaTex, serving delicious mexican food since 1979. From burritos to fajitas, enchiladas to quesadillas, Nicky's is the place for great food from south of the border.
The recipe for Nicky's success has its roots in Mexico; founder Elias Sifuentes left his home in Monterrey, Mexico more than forty years ago, to begin his restaurant career in Los Angeles. In 1966, the tastes of Mexico travelled with him to Houston, and in the late Sixties, Elias found himself transferred to Bossier City, which led him to jobs with the city and General Electric, and it was at about this time he became reacquainted with Nicky Ponce.
The two men began a Mexican eatery called La Margarita, and though it closed, both men tried again in August of 1979, this time with Nicky's Mexican Restarurant along with co-founder Thomas Eason. Three years later, Elias bought out Nicky. Even though Elias knew little english, he and Thomas Eason met the challenges of the restaurant business. Later on, when Thomas retired, and Elias Sifuentes became the sole owner of Nicky's Mexican Restaurant.
Elias has grown the company to include eight Nicky's Mexican Restaurants, all dedicated to great quality and service. Today, Elias is joined by his son Johnny Sifuentes to continue the legacy of delicious food and great service.
