Journalist Robin Roberts says beating breast cancer takes positive energy. "It's important for people to see that life goes on, we're not just surviving, we are thriving." Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer last July. She came to Texarkana to raise money for life saving technology. "Now they want to get a breast MRI - that's crucial in being able to detect cancer."

Tables of people dressed in pink donated to achieve this goal. The Breast MRI is both a diagnostic tool. It's great for young women that have dense breast tissue so they can detect tumors earlier. It's also a great treatment and planning tool," says Vicki Melde, Wadley Foundation Director.

Rebecca Pierce says an MRI could have found her cancer. "I had just had my mammogram three weeks before that and it showed nothing. It never did show anything. It was hiding."

Patsy Bentley was diagnosed 15 years ago. "So I decided I needed a support group and Magnolia didn't have one." Magnolia does now: they're called the Steel Magnolias. "Everybody kind of holds their breath when they go for a check up so you know it's a thing that you never really quit thinking," says Bentley.

Thinking about cancer can change how the world looks. "In the past where I didn't notice flowers, I notice the trees. I see every detail of everything," says survivor Sharon Johnson. Roses carried by survivors show that hope is bright and pink.

This is the 18th year for the Bringing Hope Home fundraiser. Another event to raise breast cancer awareness is quickly approaching. Texarkana's Race For The Cure is October 18th.
