Team sign up for Texarkana's Race for the Cure started today. The annual race raises money to fight breast cancer. Texarkana's race is October 18th, but team captains got to pick up information today. The deadline to register your team is September 24th.
People organizing the race this year said they hope to get 8,000 participants. "The goal this year is to have 8,000 participants in 2008. That's kind of our cheer here, and the teams, we're looking for 250 teams. Last year we had 210, and since it's the 10th year we figure we can get 40 more teams this year," team co-chair Kathleen Young said.
Teams can pick up more information Thursday, August 28, at the Texarkana School District Administration Building on 4241 Summerhill Road. The times to stop by are: 7am-9am and 11am-1pm.
