Gavin is extremely excited to be covering sports in the Ark-La-Tex. He’s already amazed at how many great people in the sports world are from the area. People is Gavin’s specialty. He loves meeting new people all the time and telling their stories. Along with being a journalist and addicted to sports he is first and foremost a storyteller. Gavin comes to Shreveport from Macon, GA where he worked as a feature sports reporter and anchor at WMGT. There he had the chance to tell a lot of great stories and of course cover high school football. Previous to his time in Macon he had never witnessed 20,000 people at a high school football game. He was also introduced to SEC football going to five UGA games. He loves football and can’t wait for the Death Valley experience. Much like many people around the area, he too bleeds purple and gold but that of the Viking variety. Gavin’s career began at WDIO/WIRT-TV in his home state of Minnesota. It was the perfect place to start his career being close to friends and family. But at the same time he’s no stranger to being away from home. He earned a B.S. in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University where he worked for CTV (the campus television station) and interned at KCNC in Denver. During his time at CTV he anchored, reported, produced, and served as the sports director and chief photographer. Please say hi to Gavin if you see him out and about or at any sporting event. He loves telling human interest stories from the world of sports, so if you’ve got a story idea e-mail him at gmoberg@ktalnews.tv. |
