Henderson Candidates Taking Part in Meet and Greet Forum Wednesday

Several candidates for political office in Henderson will be a part of a meet and greet tonight.

Candidates for Henderson City Commission, Henderson Circuit Court Clerk, District 11 and 7 State Representatives, and District 1 US Representative, will be at the forum tonight from 6 to 8 at the Ramada Inn on Highway 41 North.

The candidates will be invited to speak for three minutes each and also spend time with audience members introducing themselves and answering questions.
 
Admission is free and the public is invited.

Below is a list of candidates who have confirmed their attendance:

Henderson City Commission
  • Jan Hite
  • Tom Davis
  • Incumbent Robby Mills
  • Chad Brooks
  • Joe McGarrh
  • Incumbent Alan Taylor
  • Incumbent Mike Farmer
  • Jesse Johnston IV
  • Incumbent Robert Pruitt
  • John Shirley
  • Daniel Hancock
  • Byron Hillegas
Circuit Court Clerk
  • Larry Leslie is challenging incumbent Ruth London. Both are Democrats, so the primary election will decide the race.
District 7 Representative
  • Jim Murphy, D-Owensboro
  • Tim Kaine, R-Owensboro
District 11 Representative
  • Paul Despain, R-Henderson, will face incumbent David Watkins, D-Henderson, in the Nov. 6 election.
U.S. Congress
  • Dr. James Buckmaster, D-Henderson, and Charles Hatchett, D-Benton, will battle it out for the Democratic nomination on May 22 and the winner of that race will face incumbent U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, a Republican from Hopkinsville, on Nov. 6. Whitfield's district director Michael Pape will speak for Whitfield at the forum.
