Ellington is a Delta boy, born and raised.
A school teacher-turned prosecutor who has experience fighting for the people.
"Having the opportunity to be a public servant, but someone that has fresh ideas and a fresh face, and not tied down to party lines," he says.
Ellington says he's tired of partisan bickering down party lines, and will bring Arkansas common sense to the U.S. House of Representatives.
"If it's good for the people of the first congressional district, I'll vote for it. If it's not good for the people of the first congressional district, I will not vote for it," says Ellington.
When asked what his priorities will be, Ellington didn't hesitate to talk about social security.
He recalled a time when an elderly woman approached him at a nursing home and asked what he could do for her as congressman from the first congressional district.
"Ma'am I'm going to fight to keep social security for you and your grandchildren, and their grandchildren," Ellington told her.
Ellington says he's also going to focus on getting people to work and he recognizes that it's going
to take someone that can work with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to make that happen.
He says, "I'm a consensus builder, but I'm willing to fight for what's in the best interest of this
district."
